Hi Steve,
First, I'll just echo what Ron has suggested, try to determine just
where the problem of drift is coming from.
On the calib. freq. changes, it's often the band xtal, but on yours it
seems to be more than normal on every band. There is no alignment
adjustment, the freq.'s determined by xtals & the PTO. "Cleanliness is next
to Godliness" somebody in my past used to say. It applies in these things.
Non-cleanliness could be bad connections, even under socket screws, etc. Go
thru the whole thing, loosen & re-tighten every screw there is, some are
almost hidden, but you can get to them with a thin screwdriver. That's
fixed these sorts of things for many of us. Like Ron says, DeOxit on the
bandswitch serves the same purpose there.
I've worked on TR-4C's that had no solder on some of the connections,
musta bn built on Fri. PM or Mon. AM. One in particular had multiple
strange intermittent problems. Look at everything very closely, under good
light. One had a stability problem in the PTO, it "warbled," and even
stopped oscillating sometimes. Heat made it worse. After suspecting about
everything in the PTO, and changing most everything one at a time, it came
down to the FET. Garey Barrell helped me thru that one, over many weeks, it
seemed. Replaced the FET and it was rock solid.
I hope this helps in your search.
Do keep us posted on what you find.

> Hello,
> I have a Drake TR4-CW/rit & when I change bands, the calibrated freq
changes at least 5kc or more. In other words, I have to re-calibrate in
excess of 5 kc & on some bands 15kc. Is there anything I can do to correct
this? I've looked through the alignment directions in the manual, but
didn't see anything.

> Also, the PTO has a bit of a drift problem. It drifts down in freq & cont
inues even after warmed up for over a hour. It will drift about 2 to 3 kc
down in freq over that time. The drift seems to continue even after the rig
has been on for 2 hours.
