I have seen some fairly strange things, and yours is really a good one. I
would do the follow just to isolate where the problem is, or if you have
multiple issues.
Take a good stable general coverage RX and loosely couple to the VFO.
Make sure it is the VFO that is drifting. Same goes for the band XTALs.
Also the 9 MHz balanced modulator XTAL.
The idea is to figure out where the drift is. Make sure that the VFO is
your issue. The movement between bands seems excessive to me, but it
could be the band XTALs. Recalibration is a nusance, but the drift can be
a killer in operation. I would get some deoxit on the band switch. I
have been amazed what mechanical switches can do to oscilator circuits.
