    You are misinterpreting what I said. Look at how a standard bug is 
constructed, same arrangement on the Vibrokeyer, as you point out. There 
are TWO levers, one is the dot lever which operates the vibrator, the 
other is the very short dash lever hinged on the main trunnion. The 
center position is determined by the position of the right side stop 
screw. When the paddles are pushed to the left (dots) the whole lever 
moves until stopped by the left side stop screw, when released its 
pushed against the right hand stop by the spring. If you wire a keyer 
paddle to work as a side swiper you will go through this stop when going 
from side to side. On a real SS you will not encounter any stop. You can 
go from side to side with no click in the center. The centering of the 
lever is established by the neutral position of the spring in the lever. 
  There IS a difference in the feel. With a real SS the only stops felt 
are from the contacts on either side.
