Here's what I wrote to the ARRL President as well as my Director and SM:

 Good Afternoon -
I received a forwarded email announcing "exciting news" of the "reinvigoration" of the W1AW Code Proficiency Certificate program.
The details reveal ARRL obtained a sponsor and will now be charging $10 for it.  Hmmmm... not so exciting.

This really seems like it should be a free member service.  The goal should be to get a certificate on a ham's shack wall that reminds him every day about the value of the ARRL.  Not as a small revenue generator but rather a brand and loyalty-builder.

I finally let my membership expire last year.  They have become a
modern corporation:  market driven, professionally operated.  Today
that means a sort of hyper-tech emergency/search and rescue customer
base.  We are a fringe group now.
