The R & O that originally introduced the new Radiotelegraph Operator License said applicants will be required to pass written elements 1 and 6, and telegraphy elements 1 and 2. The FCC website now confirms it.
A General Radiotelephone Operator License will substitute for written element 1. And as we've discussed, an Amateur Extra class license issued before April 15, 2000 will substitute for Telegraphy Elements 1 and 2.
For those of us with both of those tickets, that leaves one to take the exam for just written element 6.
These exams are administered by companies acting as COLEMs. I found it difficult to get most of them to respond regarding this testing, but ultimately was able to do it through ETA International. The exam was proctored at a local library - worked out beautifully.
My contact at ETA was Lindy Wingler lwingler at eta-i.org (800) 288-3824.
