With a decent antenna, DX is easy on 80m. In fact it's even easier on 160
meters.
I have never worked Japan with 20 dB over S9 signals as I have on 160m but
a good antenna was needed. 130 foot vertical with a bunch of radials in a
salt marsh and 1.5 kW makes DX as easy as fishing in a bathtub with
dynamite. O:-) Well, you DO have to have fish swimming at the time!
