   I read that the ARRL created /KN for newbie NOVICE operators
(in the fifties) so others would not intrude into QSOs before
the newbie NOVICE operator was experienced enough to handle
interruptions.  It was to mean: "back to you ONLY"
   I think ALL pro signs and "Q" signals depend on context such as:
/BT means "between paragraphs" and "=", when I hear _..._ I write =.
/AR means "between subjects"   and "+", when I hear ._._. I write +.
