[CW] Copy speed (Was: Straight key vs paddle)

Had you ever copied for military, government, commercial radio stations, 
Capitals are the only thing that would have been acceptable.  Remember, the 
hard copy was not for the operator, but the other people who had to read it. 
Much of the "learning" phase of copying code (really meaning to copy on 
paper) was to learn to print the received iformation so it could be read. 
That is one reason, at about 15 wpm, most of those teaching facilities, 
moved the student to a MILL to type out the code, as a majority of students 
couldnt print that fast, and learn the code at the same time.

Today, I still print out (by hand) the major info in a QSO -- such as his 
name, qth.  I make notes of antennas, rigs, etc, as I do so, also.  My 
memory has never been good enuff to try to remember all that stuff the other 
guy sends, at 40 wpm.
