Hi David,

I'd like to think so, but... I have made more
mistakes than I care to admit to by... "thinking or
assuming" that someone would do the right or appropiate
thing in a given situation.

There are plenty of ops out there now who have passed the
ham tests and really don't know or abide by the rules, but
we can safely say they SHOULD know.

I had one the other day tell me I wasn't allowed to operate
CW on 7260 kc... that I was in the "phone" band !

I also read your comment about why hams don't seem
to get the idea of calling and working freqs.

Not sure about that one <smile>.

I have found that the art of operating "split" like we did
when I was a novice and was rock bound to freq "A" while the
other station was rock bound to freq "B" seems to have be
lost or forgotten.

I can remember xmitting CQ on 3708 and 7106 kc and tuning
the enitre novice segment of the band looking for (and finding)
replies from other rock bound stations way up the band.

Always love hearing your stories..etc.

72/73,

Bill KA8VIT
