I'd think they'd figure it out rather quickly. In countries where this
happens, they're told that they have to operate in accordance with the laws
regulating amateur radio.

I've read the FCC rules before I was on the air both as a ham and a
commercial operator.

Perhaps with the new "quality" that the FCC now licenses commercially,
you're right, but the old style guys would never step into something they
didn't know.

Any commercial operator who was given a FCC license, would have to get a
rule book to find out what the band assignments and rules were anyway,
wouldn't he? He'd know like any station that an amateur station is assigned
with certain specifics as to frequency, modes and power.

I think he'd be bright enough to look it up.

Dave N1EA,

I have always respected your opinions...

But, giving someone a automatic ham license just because
they held a commerical license may lead to problems.

The rules and regs of amatuer radio are different for that
of a commerical radio telegrapher... (yes, I know you know...)

Shouldn't they be subject to testing on the amateur rules
and regs ?

As you know..commerical ops have to ID every 15 min
not 10 like hams... and so on.

Just a thought.
