[CW] Raspy CW tone

Actually, I don't find a slight chirp or raspiness objectionable, if the 
signal is otherwise stable and narrow. If I hear one of these signals 
calling CQ, I usually reply to it.  Many times, the station is using 
homebrew and/or vintage equipment and the operator is very knowledgeable 
about the technical aspect of radio, and other subjects as well.  They 
usually are aware of the chirp or tone.  I find this type of QSO much more 
enjoyable than many of the ones from the plug-'n-play right of the box types 
with perfect-sounding CW but whose conversation ability does not extend 
beyond the WX and the op's latest ailments.
