High Wind Watch
Statement as of 1:22 PM PDT on March 27, 2010

...High wind watch in effect from Monday afternoon through
Tuesday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a high wind
watch...which is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday
afternoon.

* Timing: a strong storm system will move into the area Monday
afternoon into Tuesday with a period of high winds in western
Nevada. The strongest winds are likely Monday evening and night.

* Winds: southwest winds are expected to gust between 55 and 65
mph in the valleys of far western Nevada including Reno and
Carson City. Wind prone areas such as Carson/Washoe valleys and
Galena may gust to 80 mph at times.

* Impacts: high winds could result in travel problems, especially
for high profile vehicles. Expect strong turbulence and possible
flight delays out of Reno. Any unsecured outdoor items such as
deck furniture and garbage cans should be tied down or moved to
   a shelter before Monday afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is potential for strong damaging
winds to affect the area. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts at weather.Gov/Reno.
