[CVRC] Modification of Kenwood HT to transmit on additional bands

Actually no...

Licenses are issued to individuals only, and can only be used by that
individual and members of their immediate family as defined in the FCC regs:
http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/13nov20061500/edocket.access.gpo.gov
/cfr_2006/octqtr/47cfr95.179.htm.

Note that the cited rules do mention corporation, partnership, etc.
licenses, but they stopped issuing those in the late 80s, so that part of
the rules do not apply in the situation you are describing. Those type of
licenses were grandfathered in.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I should forget about this based on
the comments.
I had two reasons for considering this:

1. I help my cousin leading Sierra Club hikes in the Donner Summit area
and some people there use GMRS radios. I have a GMRS license. I plan on
bringing my HT this year because we had an emergency last year when we were
out of cell phone range. I subsequently took my HT back and was able to hit
a repeater in the valley (Sacramento or Auburn) and may have heard one on
Mt. Rose. I thought if I could comminicate on GMRS also I could avoid
bringing two radios.

2. My son has a Jeep and we ran the Rubicon Trail (Tahoma at Tahoe to
Georgetown) last year. Some of the trail guides there use 151.625 because
there is a station at Rubicon Springs which uses that frequency. I thought
it would be handy to be able to communicate on that frequency in an
emergency.

I have another question. GMRS licences apply to the licencie and their
family.

A aviation radio guy and I are trying to find out if the Sierra Club can get
a GMRS license which could be used by any certified trip leader out of the
Clair Tappaan Lodge in Norden. He has sent emails to the FCC with no
response.
