...Strong winds and much cooler temperatures expected starting
Thursday...
A cold low pressure system will drop into the Pacific northwest and
northern Rockies on Thursday. High temperatures will drop between 10
and 20 degrees from Wednesday to Thursday as a strong cold front
moves through.
Much cooler temperatures will be accompanied by strong winds over
western Nevada...northeast California and the eastern Sierra on
Thursday. Winds could gust to 40 mph...with gusts to 50 mph in
wind prone areas along the Sierra front.
Gusty winds can create difficult travel conditions for high

secured or brought indoors by Thursday morning.
A secondary push of colder air will drop snow levels Friday and
Friday night to 5000 to 5500 feet over northern Lassen...Washoe...
and Pershing counties...with the possibility of light snow
accumulations for the Warner Mountains and peaks above 6000 feet
over far northern Nevada and northeast California. Also...the
secondary front will kick up strong gusty winds over Mono and
Mineral counties...with gusts to 50 mph possible.
