Flood Watch
1113 am PDT Mon Apr 3 2006
...Flood Watch remains in effect from 5 PM PDT this afternoon
through Tuesday morning for urban areas and small streams...
The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of western Nevada...including the following area...
in western Nevada...greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area.
* From 5 PM PDT this afternoon through Tuesday morning
* rain is expected to increase over western Nevada later today and
may become heavy at times overnight through Tuesday morning.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches on top of moist soil are
possible from Reno to Carson City and Douglas County.
* Rapid rises on small creeks and streams are expected with minor
lowland flooding possible. Significant rises on the Truckee and
Carson rivers are also likely but no river flooding is expected
at this time. Ponding of water is expected in urban areas
especially at intersections and roads with poor drainage. Creeks
will also rise in the Waterfall burn area west of Carson City
with possible minor flows of mud and debris.
Small creeks...streams and locations near the Waterfall burn area
are the most susceptible to flooding. Persons living in these
areas should monitor the latest weather information and be
prepared to take action should flooding occur. Stay tuned to the
National Weather Service for the latest information on this
developing situation.
