High Wind Advisory
348 PM PST Wed Nov 30 2005
...High wind watch now in effect from Thursday morning through
Thursday evening...
A strong low pressure system will move into northern California
on Thursday. Ahead of the low...south to southwest winds will
increase Thursday morning to 20 to 35 mph. Wind gusts in excess of
50 mph are possible in the wind prone areas along and east of
Highway 395 from Susanville to Minden...in the Surprise Valley and
northern Washoe County. Winds will subside Thursday evening as
a cold front moves southward through the area.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
wind event. Travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles.
The strong winds may also blow down Holiday decorations and other
loose outdoor objects. Stay tuned to local media outlets for
additional statements from the National Weather Service.
