High Wind Advisory
300 am PST Wed Nov 30 2005
...High wind watch in effect from Thursday morning through
Thursday evening...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a high wind
watch...which is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday
evening.
A strong low pressure system will move into northern California on
Thursday. Ahead of the low...south to southwest winds will
increase on Thursday morning to 20 to 30 mph. Wind gusts in excess
of 50 mph are possible in the wind prone areas along and east of
Highway 395 from Susanville to Minden...in the Surprise Valley and
northern Washoe County. Winds will subside on Thursday evening as
the low moves northeast into Idaho.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
wind event. Travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles.
The strong winds may also blow down Holiday decorations and other
loose outdoor objects. Stay tuned to local media outlets for
additional statements from the National Weather Service.
