Special Weather Statement
435 am PDT Mon Oct 25 2004

...Snowfall accumulations possible down to the valley floors of
western Nevada Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning...

A cold storm system will drop southward to the Pacific northwest

and Wednesday. The best chance for significant precipitation will
occur on Monday night and Tuesday across the Sierra Nevada.
However...rain...and snow above 5000 feet...will begin to spill over
into northwest Nevada Tuesday. Snow levels will lower to valley
floors by Tuesday evening. There is a chance of a couple inches of
snowfall in the Reno-Carson City area down to the valley floors
Tuesday night. Greater accumulations will be possible above 5000
feet. A Snow Advisory may need to be issued on Tuesday morning if
accumulations still look possible.

Winds are also expected to increase as this storm approaches..with a
period of gusty winds possible late Monday night and Tuesday morning
across the region.

Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and other local media for further
