The ARES activation in Washoe County continues in support of Red Cross
relief/sheltering activities this afternoon. Operators are currently
scheduled to staff the amateur station at the Reno Chapter House through
1800 hours this evening. At present, it appears we will secure at that
time unless the fire situation changes. The Red Cross will be updating us
on their needs at approximately 1500 hours - in the event that it is
determined we need to continue operations later into the evening, we will
begin making calls to solicit help. Otherwise, we will begin planning
later for operations to continue tomorrow morning starting at 0800. Any
operators available to assist are asked to contact station KE7R on 147.150+
P.L. 123.0 or 147.210+ P.L. 123.0, or call pager 858-8536 (at last report,
phones at the Chapter House were in after hours mode and calls were being
forwarded to the regional call center in San Diego).
Many, many, many thanks to those who have stepped up and volunteered to
work shifts so far in this response. Because of your assistance, this
operation has gone very smoothly so far. Great job!
