[Collins] KWM-380 Kiron adapter Help

Hello Everyone,
I need some help I have a Kiron adapter for my KWM-380 and I suspect the
internal battery has had the fritz, but I can not tell for sure. I found a 
possible
replacement a M48Z12-150PC1 will this work? Which if I am correct has faster
access times 150ns as appossed to 200ns on the original. So what are you 
supposed
to do when the battery in the chip goes belly up? Your comments folks, 
please.
