Jerry, it works but is a weak solution.  The phono plug could be pulled out
when the rig is moved and leave one without a ground.
Taking the time to "carefully" drill a hole is a safer method.
If a SO-239 is installed for the RF out, a compression clamp around the
PL-259 shell provides a positive mechanical ground or as Dave suggested, the
center screw on the cabinet
