      I've done that here.  Changing KWM-2A and 51S-1 main tuning weighted 
knobs between
both sets and S-line stuff.  It all works the same.  Now, what Dave may be 
referring to is the fact that
there MAY be a difference between the 51S-1 ock mechanism, and the 2/2A 
lock mechanism (I don't think
so but never looked).  If there is a difference, then that may account for 
the application problem.
But if memory serves, the P/N for all the weighted knobs is the same 
between all the radios.  I guess that's
the way to settle this.  Look at the Part Number fop the knobs.
