[Collins] Plastic trim ring clean-up

Hi all:

Just picked up a 30L1 that was clearly not raised in a non-smoking home!
It's a RE with the plastic trim ring and the part of it was exposed is now
more almond than gray.

	1. What is the best way to clean it. Can I use any abrasives at all?

	2. Was the factory finish just the plain plastic or was it either painted
or clear coated with something? In other words, if there was 	a top coat of
some kind and it gets rubbed off in cleaning, what do I re-finish with?
