Gene,

I was in a similar situation as you with my Thor:  I needed a cable 
because my RF deck and modulator/PS came from different sources.

I made my own cable.

For the audio, I had to use a shielded pair, as you 
suspected.  Otherwise there was 60 cycle hum.   I also twisted 
together the two wires for switched AC.  Otherwise all the 
connections were ordinary, stranded hook-up wire run straight.

Never a problem with this cable, altho it isn't very pretty.  If it 
would help, I could make a photo of it for you.
