[Clegg] Clegg Thor 6 and Thor Six and Thor VI - - really?

I had a Thor VI that a fellow gave me to sell in 1995.  I found the Thor had 
good modulation
but really suffered compared to the big Clegg receiver in that even with the 
nice Johnson Brothers dial you needed some way to slow the tuning rate down.

A lot of the Thor's that I see suffer from the same problem as the Zeus...no 
modulator/power supply.
I even saw a Thor for sale that used a modified Heathkit power supply.  No 
word on how it was modulated.  maybe the ham used it just on CW.  But then 
again the dial just tunes too fast for me on CW.

The Venus employed the great Eddystone dial and was a pleasure to use.
