[Clegg] Hello Clegg owners.

I'd never seen one either, Pete. Only heard stories that it was the 2
meter equivalent of the Venus. Ed said it was indeed meant to be, but
a lower cost version based on the 22er MKII design. Sideband wasn't
switchable either. Ed originally thought that only one or two
completed units survived in the hands of his friends, turns out the
remaining unfinished examples were sold at some kind of factory yard
sale. Saw one sell on ebay a couple years back for $500. Mine came
from Warren, K2ORS. Think he picked it up at the sale, maybe snagged a
few useful parts off it, and gave it to me years later when he found
out I was interested in Clegg gear. Warren used to be a member of this
list too. Maybe he's still lurking?
So my hope is to use some MKII parts units to at least build it up to
look complete, even if it doesn't work. The only differences
externally are the addition of a second edgeview meter, some controls
and labeling, and the Comet name. So it shouldn't be too difficult to
at least make it look good. It would be cool to find some original
design documentation to finish building it, but that's asking a lot.
Joe 'PJP has gotten into the Clegg stuff too in recent years, finding
a 'new' set of the Zeus and Interceptor still in the boxes that
someone bought but never used. It all needed rebuilding, so it's been
keeping him busy. If you come across a clean, unmodified Apollo amp,
he's looking for one.
