Back from joining maybe 400,000 in NYC for the Great Climate March. Interesting day. I'll show anyone pix if your interested.

I had this email waiting in my mailbox. This is the minutes. So, now you have most of the info we talked about Saturday. I will be informing MD SEC as I get info from all of you.

I need to know who can drive, who can monitor from home, who can be our voice link to the SET net, and who can operate while someone else drives. This is the best case scenario: driver/operator team. We may have to go with a single op/driver.

I'm foreseeing that we come up with our equipment checks and voice contacts before the 0900L exercise start. If we could do something Friday night or earlier Sat morning to be sure we are playing together, that would be good.

Please share info will all CALV ARES members. Even those not participating can learn from the exercise. We can also talk about this at the Thurs CARA meeting.

Subject: 2014 MDC SET Planning Meeting Minutes/Action Items

Great meeting, gang. Glad you all could find time in your busy schedule to attend. Appreciated all the discussion that pointed to the wishes of a successful SET. . .much like you all did last year.

I am going to go right into the Action Items as best as we can remember them, in no particular order. There were a lot of ideas floating around, we captured some of them. Please review carefully and make any corrections to the contents of this email.

1. APRS Operators Call Signs

Action for all counties playing to get call signs and (something I forgot during the meeting) celly phone numbers to me as early as possible. We talked about implementing my 'buddy system' rule so all operators will be with a second person in the car for safety considerations. This is a priority action as I need to get the list to the APRS Trackers in a timely manner.

Known APRS drivers as of today:

    AB3UC - PRGE
    KB3KOW - CHAS
    WJ3K - ANAR
    MONT - ??
    CALV - ??

2. 'Live at the DE State Convention'

Jim, WI3N, agreed to send off an email to the convention chair to get the approximate time Bob Bruninga will be speaking on APRS and perhaps suggest that he consider our SET operations as part of his demonstration. Our start time(s) can be flexible with his lecture schedule.

3. Carroll County Players

Jeff, KB3FIO, agreed to see if he could find a few player from CARR to join in on the fun and participate with us.

4. FRED Comms Van (Mike K3MMB) will be the "MEMA relocation support van" stationed and operating in the vicinity of the I270 overpass.

EC Jeff advised the Frederick local Red Cross station will be staffed.

5. ANAR ARC Repeater W3VRP

It was agreed that the ANAR ARC repeater on 147.105 (+) PL 107.2 will be the primary MDC SET repeater for the duration of the SET. It was agreed, in the spirit of Amateur Radio cooperation, to secure permission from ANAR ARC for use of their repeater. Action for Gordon, WJ3K to get me the proper email address for such a request.

6. WJ3K to schedule relief NCS operators for their repeater.

7. Mutual Aide

Mike (MEMA) will request mutual aide to report to Fred and support the MEMA Comms Van.

8. WJ3K to provide configuration for efficient and proper APRS digipeat operation e.g., WIDE 1-1, WIDE, 2-1, etc. along with APRS Alert/RADAR capability configuration.

9. Backup repeater for the 146.105 repeater will be on 442.300 (+) PL 107.2. Permission will be needed for this repeater as well. I see by the ARRL Repeater Directory this repeater has two sponsors. Gordon, please see if permission for both can be done with one email.

10. Permission has been secured for the use of the N3ST 440 Linking System (Central Maryland Repeater Group) during our SET. Repeaters are:

    Laurel 444.700+ PL 167.9
    Suitland 448.925- PL 167.9
    Frederick 444.100+ PL 167.9
    Baltimore 449.675- PL 167.9
    Orem 447.075- PL 167.9

11. All meeting participants are encouraged to join the MDCQRV Yahoo reflector to assist in scheduling any possible need for HF communications. It is an instant membership, no approval required.

12. Frederick Memorial Hospital

Jeff, KB3FIO, will see if they can get operators into Frederic Memorial Hospital to play with PRGE SET operations, VHF only. FRED Comms van to relay to PRGE via 440 Linking system.

13. NTS-Digital

Jim WI3N will reach out to Al W3YVQ regarding NTS Net, NTS Digital. Also will reach out to James Hamilton re NTS-D.

14. Al Fitzsimmons will reach out to his contacts for additional help for SET.

15. ARESMAT

MONT will provide mutual aide operators to assist with the FRED Comms Van.

16. MONT EOC Ops

MONT will provide Winlink operators at MONT EOC

17. Ben (MONT) K3RYR and William W3QX will operator from the Mont Co EOC. "I want them to know what we do."

18. Joel (PRGE) and Ben (MONT) exchanged emails so Ben can let Joel know who the MONT APRS Driver is.

19. Jim (KAS) to email Shomo (GARR) to inquire about KB3NUF. He should have been here today.

20. WASH County Players

Jim WI3N will reach out to Butch, NI2W, for possible additional SET players.

==================

Due dates for the above action are in a timely manner for me to incorporate into a Revised Plan. In other words.. .the sooner. . .the better!

Hopefully, I have all this right. If there are any additions or corrections, reply to all and let me know the details.

Leaving in the morning for NC and will be back either Mon or Tues, depending how long the Mr. Fix-it list is!! I have some jobs to do at FWMC hospital and Collington to get ready as soon as I get back. I might delay the Plan revision until the week of the 29th. It is pretty much a repeat of this but more professionally written.

Again, a great team came together to make this a successful planning session. We ought to do this more often.

tnx es 73, de
Jim
