I'm copying Gordon Davids / WJ3K email I just received. We need to report radio types, capabilities and callsigns soon.
The plan is to have multiple paths of equipment heading towards MEMA in Reisterstown where they got a tornado hit. Antennas went down and other equipment is damaged. We will put an index card in a shoebox and transport it to Reisterstown in relays. St Mary's is not playing. Only 9 counties are playing of 16 in MD. Luckily, I guess, they are nearly contiguous in the central part of the state. We will be using APRS tracking and messaging to rendezvous with Anne Arundel County to pass our 'equipment' to them for further transport. Voice net on AAR linked repeater(s) since they are fairly central to all stations playing. Fixed stations to monitor movement and report coordinates, mobile stations to send coordinates, and drivers to drive the mobile stations. It would be nice to have an operator/driver team for this.
I plan to be APRS capable with a 710G by then. Will be online to HRO soon as I send this update. I will keep you updated as I get more info. I'm in the email loop now for this exercise.
This from Gordon:
For SET Plans:
,
Anne Arundel Radio Club -
Use of 147.105 / 147.075 / 444.400 linked repeaters for Central MD Net -
(This is a regular request. We could probably operate most of the time
as a non-directed net because our traffic would be fairly light. We
probably don't want to pre-empt all other use of the repeater system for
our APRS exercise. I don't know what other plans are afoot for use
during the SET.)
I'm working up a simple standard configuration for APRS ops so that we
can play nicely in the existing APRS network in the area. It would be
useful to know what radio types will be used by the several ops. More
on that soon.
My Digipeater-IGate in Severna Park, WJ3K-1, will independently log all
transmissions that it receives.
That can give us some good post-mortem data so we can see how the system
has worked.
I understand that our hand-off scenario has changed. The default will
be to the FRED mobile station representing a relocated MEMA, probably on
I-270 at the overlook southeast of Frederick. That could be changed
on-the-fly to a coordinated hand-off with PRGE/MONT in the eastern part
of MONT.
Since we (WJ3K and WA3G) will be functioning as part of a mission
assigned to ANAR, we will expect to be activated by our EOC or N3SEO.
We will keep ANAR EOC advised on our progress or problems.
More later.
73,
Gordon Davids / WJ3K
