Dennis: This will probably confuse most members.
RMS Relay is a program that is only run at the nodes (N1WR-10 and K3CAL-10). The program that is used by digital stations is RMS Express, which isn't affected by the message below.

Subject: [Winlink_Programs_Group] RMS Relay 3.0.0.0 with Hybrid Network support released
Sent: Mon, Nov 4, 2013 2:05:45 PM
RMS Relay version 3.0.0.0 has been released. You can get the update using the normal autoupdate procedure. You can force an immediate update check by stopping and restarting RMS Relay. If you have RMS Relay configured to ask for operator confirmation before installing updates, you may have to respond to a message box to get the update, so it's recommended that you force an update check while you're present.
This is a major advancement that provides support for both the traditional Winlink system that connects through the Internet to CMS, and it also supports radio-only message forwarding from RMS to RMS without using the Internet. For more information about the Hybrid Network, please see: http://www.winlink.org/HybridNetwork
This version of RMS Relay requires the VOACAP program to be installed to compute propagation estimates. Typically VOACAP is installed with RMS Express, but if you don't have it installed, you can download the installation program from: ftp://autoupdate.winlink.org/User%20Programs/itshfbc_120722.zip
It is recommended -- but not required -- that you install Trimode version 1.2.4.7, because it has some improvements for the hybrid network. To get the update to that version, stop Trimode, add this line to the [Main] section of the RMS Trimode.ini file, and then restart Trimode:
Test autoupdate=true
If you are the sysop of an RMS that has Pactor capability, we strongly encourage you to install RMS Relay and join the hybrid network. There is no disadvantage to doing this; it just allows your RMS to continue operation if the Internet connection is lost and to support message forwarding from other RMS. Here is a link to the full installation program:
ftp://autoupdate.winlink.org/Sysop%20Programs/RMS_Relay_setup_3-0-0-0.zip
If your RMS is already part of the Hybrid Network, thank you. It will take approximately 48 hours for non-hybrid RMS to be updated and their information incorporated in the propagation matrix.
