You can operate full break-in with a separate rx and tx antenna with
no problem at the Ranger power level.   I did it for years with a
Knight T-60. I received with an inverted V and transmitted with a
horizontal random wire going out away from the inverted V.  My
receiver was an Allied solid state general cov. receiver made for them
by Trio I believe.  The front end coils on old tube receivers can
usually  handle more voltage than modern sets.   I think Collins gives
a maximum front end specification somewhere for the A-Line.  I
remember that for 50 ohms it was a surprisingly high power level.  Not
real high but more than I expected.  But, replacing such a coil is
difficult.  I would put some separation between the antennas like
around 40 or 50 feet and keep the Ranger output power down to 40
watts.  A lot of CW QSOs can be had with 40 watts.

I don't see why not.  I left my old Allied rx on my tx frequency and
could copy between my dits and dahs no problem.
