The Ranger has an AC output to work a T-R switch, meant to work with
the Johnson Matchbox. It is a good transmitter. The 75A-1 is a good
receiver but has become a collector's item. Actually, any 1950's
receiver of decent quality is a good match for the Ranger.
A second antenna will not give you "break-in" by itself, if that is
what you want. The old commercial stations that were nearly always
break-in had separate receive and transmit locations and also worked
duplex, that is separate transmit and receive frequencies. It is
possible to approximate real break-in but you must be careful that you
don't allow the transmitted signal to get into the receiver burning out
the antenna coils.
