    Using separate antennas may give you safe levels in the receiver if 
separated by a long enough distance. Actually, pretty far. Even if at a 
reasonable distance you are likely to get overloading and 
desensitization of the receiver. As far as the limit of power in the 
receiver you can take a chance if you want but input coils for older 
receivers are not easy to find. I had to for my AR-88 because the coils 
for the two top bands were fried.
    Another point about your technique, you are using two different 
kinds of antennas. They have different performance. Well, the commercial 
stations did that but they also mostly used duplex with R and T on 
different frequencies.
    All of this sounds like wishful thinking to me.
    Now, why do you want break-in, are you planning to handle heavy 
traffic?
     I just think you are asking for trouble without getting much 
benefit in return.
