You're making the assumption that any Company from 60 years ago that
advertised in those magazines doesn't exist anymore. Probably not true
and probably not relevant to the fact that it's an advertisement. There's
nothing in the Media Mail rules that defines age of any advertisements.
This "what is" info I believe was posted by USPS(?) back in Feb. 2021.
What is allowed in USPS Media Mail:
Contents are restricted to books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes,
printed music, recorded computer-readable media (such as CDs and DVDs).
Available for sending small and large packages containing books, film,
manuscripts, sound recordings, video tapes, and computer media (such as
CDs, DVDs, and diskettes) only.
What Cannot be sent through Media Mail:
Items that cannot be shipped via Media Mail are the items that are not
approved. This includes any type of advertising, puzzles, video games,
vintage magazines (even though their ads are old, they are still ads),
pencils, and empty binders.
