I had a TS830S and companion external VFO that I got as part of an
estate. I hauled them to every hamfest over the spring and summer 2
years ago including Dayton. I started out at around $400 for both and
kept dropping the price. They were in great shape, looked fine and I
had checked them out on all bands SSB/CW to make sure all was working
okay. After around 5 or 6 hamfests I finally practically gave the 830
away for $125 just to get rid of it because I was sick and tired of
schlepping it. I had to sell the VFO separately. My lesson was
that 98 out of 100 hams want nothing to do with anything they have to
tune up manually I guess because they don't know how or they're razzle
dazzled by the modern panadapter display rigs. It was eye opening
and sad. We on this email list are a teeny minority.
