Does anybody know what the approximate value of an excellent condition Zenith Wave Magnet antenna is?

Fascinating about that middle gang of the variable capacitor! I never knew that. The one I have is a solid-state transoceanic that is for sale.
Also the wave magnet antenna which is pretty cool.

Any of the high end miniature tube equivalents to the Zenith TO are better on the "spread" SW bands than the TO. Examples are: Hallicrafters TW-1000 & 2000, Capehart-Farnworth 88P66NL, Andrea W69P, RCA3BX671, Stromberg-Carlson AWP-8. The reason is that the center section of the TO's 3-gang tuning cap is cut out of the circuit on the spread bands leaving only an untuned RFC as the load for the RF amplifier. This is the worst condition as out-of-band signals and noise come through amplified to the 1L6 converter where they mix to the detriment of what you are tying to hear. All of the other sets mentioned above have the RF amp tuned as it should be and you can hear the difference in side-by-side comparisons. Check the enigmatic band switch on the schematic diagram of any of the miniature-tube Zenith TOs and you will see what I'm talking about. Mike, W6MAB

Yes the high RF field overload beat down that receiver, yet I have seen the same with modern 900 MHz multi channel, spread spectrum Medical transponder systems. I was maintaining these in the 1990s and 2000s, and spent several days in North Carolina once troubleshooting the system until we found out that was a 50 kW TV broadcaster about a block away!

I have mixed feelings about the series. While the name, aura, and appearance, and history are fabled, I am a little less enthusiastic about the single IF
in the tube versions. Of course, it WAS a product for the civilian market. And maybe when and if DRM digital broadcasting comes in, you won't want
the selectivity of two IFs.
When I lived Omaha in the 1990s I bought a last-model T.O., with the VHF band and all. From my apartment in north city I could see on some hill a
couple towers. I could not use the SW ranges at all, they were completely inundated by FM break-thru. I am slightly embarrassed to admit the radio
is still packed away.
At a swapmeet a couple years back I bought the Capehart equivalent to the tube T.O. I liked it mostly because at that time Capehart was owned by
ITT and the radio on the fold up cover has a map and a large ITT logo, I thought that was pretty unique.
