[Boatanchors] HRO-60 motorboating after repair

I wasn't getting the 2010 kc 2nd conversion tone with the signal 
generator on, double conversion coils were practically dead and found 
the 2nd converter 6BE6 tube socket had a bad pin with no contact (pin 
7), fixed it and now it is motorboating but it does it even with the 
tube out and no coil in so I'm not sure that caused the problem or not. 
Could disturbing the wires around the socket have caused this? Will this
 be a problem if I let it motorboat while I look for the problem? So far
 I turned it on only for 10-15 seconds at a time, thanks ahead of time,
