[Boatanchors] Weller Iron Frustrations

I have a Weller 8200N that I have had since 79 and the tip nuts are the same
ones that came with the original tip. I looked on Amazon last night and
there are several places to buy tips, guns and complete kits.
The prices didn't seem to out of line either for the guns. To keep the tips
from burning too quickly I use rosin flux. I have a small container about
the size of a smokeless tobacco tin that came from RS. When the tip needs
to be cleaned I pull the trigger and dip the tip in the flux.
Another problem may be the solder used. Some of it will eat a tip up
quickly especially if you pull the trigger and hold it for a long time.
