Dave -

Once the solder is gone, it's easy to clip the lead with flush 
cutters.  There is only a thin film of solder left, and the flush 
cutters usually just pull the lead loose rather than actually cutting 
anything.  I've done hundreds of wafer switch terminals...  so far 
...  :-)
