The 808 just melts all the solder and sucks it all off. Doesn't matter 
what it is, as long as it's not a big enough heat sink to drop the tip 
temperature.  In those cases, an auxiliary iron can be used to 
supplement the Hakko's heat.  There are severaldifferent size tips for 
the Hakko, with different size holes through them for various situations.
