I think I must make very clear that I was not trying
to denigrate Bob's efforts at all. I think perhaps my post
may have read like that and if so my apologies to Bob, who
obviously did a lot of work on the spread sheets.
The coding system for capacitors is a mess and no
fooling. There are three and six dot systems and the RMA and
JAN system and variations, not to speak of the stripe system
as seen on the notorious Black Beauty caps.
The problem is how is one to be sure of the type of
capacitor one has lurking around in the guts of a chassis
like a cockroach under the sink. Ultimately, it doesn't
matter since they all go bad with time.
