I have found this exchange of messages very interesting and while I know
all about the origin of Wouff Hong and Retysnitch, I am at a complete loss
as to the origin of the term "lid" which used to shame an operator into
behaving himself. I am well aware of the fact that it means "poor
operator." But why that particular word? Does anyone know, to the point
of being able to cite a reference?
