[Boatanchors] Wouff Hong - rettysnitch and other symbols

I guess that the American flag and the Bald Eagle are "crude physical
symbols" dreamed up over 200 years ago and this country shouldn't pay
any significance or remembrance to them either.

It is indeed a very sad thing that this really is true, at least for a
significant portion of this country's current population.

I'm in disagreement to the off-hand dismissal of long ago symbols that
have developed in our history. It doesn't matter whether they are a
part of a hobby, military service, or other symbols that are still in
existence today, and I won't bring them up since they are indeed what
all of us learned through our "Elmer's" or Mentors.

Simply that religion and politics do not belong in this hobby's context.

This entire discussion is essentially the same that comes out of the
dust bunnies or cobwebs that many of us do remember. It always degrades
into the whole licensing of the past and the current one.

This makes the hobby look the way it does on the bands in current times.

We as a group need to reconsider where we take things, and what we
really want to happen.

This starts to become "Be careful what you wish for." situations.

Whom are members of this and other lists? Some are involved in the OO
program. Most likely significant ARRL individuals, and individuals of
regulatory nature.

This is my humble opinion nothing more, and nothing less. It is only as
important as you, individually and/or collectively decide.

I've started to become ashamed that I am part of this community. This
really bothers me. I had a long term view of permanent retirement and
enjoying the hobby as I grow older. Now I am starting to re-think my
future.

I'll quit typing, and simply wish that one and all has a Happy New Year,
and reflects on the past and future ventures.
