Clive,
Electric Radio magazine had a simple electret mic mod some years back. A word of warning: electrets are very sensitive and a local (to me, anyway) Ham had built one up into a T-17 (I think) and was useing it quite successfuly except for the fact that every sound in his house (wife washing dishes, baby noises,) and the cars going by could be heard! Be careful what you wish for! You may just get more than you bargained for!
I suggest looking for an RS-38 or T-17 carbon mic , they do show up on eBay often. They may need a "good whacking" as the carbon granuales get stuck to each other over time.
 Best,
         Jay KE6PPF

ubject: tcs 12 transmitter microphone modification details

entlemen,
have acquired a complete TCS12 system but with a useless microphone. I believe
hat there is a modification that enables a modern insert to be used or an
electret' insert. Can anyone direct me to the modifications details please or
ail me the circuitry. This rig looks like it just came out of the shipping
ox, its been well cared for.
hanks in advance and regards
