I fired up this old Cold War relic and got it to play without 
much effort. The strange Antenna connector has the same bolt 
hole pattern as an SO-239, so a non-destructive (and reversible) 
mod was done. 
Thanks to WF2U for a translation of the controls, I now know what 
I am twiddling !!
There is a rear-screen projection system of some kind in there, 
but turning on the lamp does not show anything on the screen. 
Perhaps there is a missing tape ? Or a missing mirror ? Not sure 
how this works.
I understand the radio has a Mechanical Filter in it. That would 
explain the sharp tuning.

Bottom line ... a nice little bench receiver.
