[Boatanchors] January's Puzzle

Here is an opportunity for you to put on your thinking/memory caps. I suspect I
might stump you but hopefully that won't be the case.

I have a surplus VFO and I would like to know to what it belongs.

Here are some clues:

1. It has two tubes, a 6SJ7 oscillator and a 6SK7 buffer
2. The oscillator runs from 1.0 to 2.5 Mc (yes, Megacycles)
3. The two tubes sit between two enclosures that mount on a common chassis
4. The chassis has provisions for shock mounts
5. The buffer acts as a doubler, putting out 2 to 5 Mc (did I say Megacycles?)
6. Power connections to the unit are on the left hand side
7. RF connections to the unit are on the right hand side
8. The L/C components for the oscillator and the buffer are inside the two
compartments
9. There is a clever temperature compensation capacitor in the oscillator
compartment
10. It requires 6.3VAC, 100VDC (oscillator) and 150V (buffer). Don't ask me how
I determined these voltages but it works with them.
11. It has a two digit mechanical turns counter that, I guess, runs from 00 to
99 (it's stuck which is why I am guessing)
12. The assembly is 11.5" long (not counting the knob that protrudes out the
front), 6" wide and 7-1/4" tall
13. The oscillator is extremely stable

A picture of it can be seen at the end of my pictures at the website below.
