Dick,
The rear-projection system consists of a printed glass disc - the fine
resolution dial and a bulb behind it. There is a nice trick here: there are
actually two bulbs which can be selected by a switch on the rear panel of
the receiver. If one bulb is burned out, you switch it over to the other
one, so you don't have to stop listening to the receiver, disconnect it and
remove it from the case to replace the bulb. You can't see anything in the
projection dial window without the bulb being on. There is no mirror; the
backlit glass dial is viewed via a magnifying glass.
The R-326 doesn't have a mechanical filter. It has a single-crystal, tunable
filter in the 2nd IF (216 KHz); the bandwidth is adjustable between 300 and
6000 KHz, the wider bandwidth is in the CW-1 position of the function switch
(the crystal filter iis out of the signal path). The first IF is 460 KHz in
bands I - III and 2200 KHz in bands IV - VI.
Due to the low plate voltage (around 50 VDC) and high gain of the RF/IF
stages, the receiver is prone to cross modulation and overloading from
strong signals if a longer antenna is used. The wire antenna is specified as
12 m (36 ft), but the sensitivity is adequate with the 4 m and the 1.5 m
whip antennas.
The receiver is very stable, the BFO has a tuning dial which is calibrated
+/- 3 kHz and has a zero set.
I have a PDF format schematic diagram if you need it.
Enjoy.

I fired up this old Cold War relic and got it to play without
much effort. The strange Antenna connector has the same bolt
hole pattern as an SO-239, so a non-destructive (and reversible)
mod was done.
Thanks to WF2U for a translation of the controls, I now know what
I am twiddling !!
There is a rear-screen projection system of some kind in there,
but turning on the lamp does not show anything on the screen.
Perhaps there is a missing tape ? Or a missing mirror ? Not sure
how this works.
I understand the radio has a Mechanical Filter in it. That would
explain the sharp tuning.
Bottom line ... a nice little bench receiver.
