[Boatanchors] Milliammeter shunt resistance wire sources?

The problem with using copper wire is that the length of wire needed to make the shunt can be fairly long which makes for a pretty good sized "bundle".  However, I definitely have been known to make meter shunts from copper wire.

I do not understand why one would mess with nichrome wire. It is not Rocket Science to use copper wire for a meter shunt. The ohmic value is easy to calculate. Look in the ARRL handbook.
