[Boatanchors] PARTING OUT

Bob:

Personally, I dont respond to such flaming about whatever decision I choose to make about a piece of gear.

That does not apply to those who offer their thoughts, as everyone here has done, as long as the discussion is civil. We can agree to disagree about a course of action. We may think that someone is crazy for doing something he or she did, but how

often in our ham careers have we ended up with a piece of equipment because of a decision by another ham that we thought

was crazy and that we would NEVER have made that same decision ourselves?

Those being nasty about whether to part out or not do not know anything more about a rig than what I mention

when I list it. It's sitting in my shack, not theirs. I've seen the innards, they havent. I may have worked on it or fired it up, they havent. They dont know the time constraints or change of desires that I have in making the decision.

"To each his own as Mrs. Murphy said as she kissed the cow goodnight." HI HI

So, I just reply to those who are interested in acquiring or discuss civilly and just ignore the nasties. I've had my heart broken by other's decisions and I imagine some have had their's broken by my decisions. I mean, I've seen people say they have picked rigs out of trash heaps sitting by the curb waiting for pickup and have restored them to operating condition. The thought of tossing out a rig to the curbside waiting for a Friday garbage pickup shocks my sensibilities .. but then, I dont know and didnt see what the owner did that caused him to decide to pitch it. That's life.. On the other hand, I have tossed boxes of components after failing to find takers, so I can sympathize a bit when it comes to a grander scale like a rig.
