I have had similar experiences with a couple of SB 400 transmitters. They were in B A D shape. After making inquiries and getting to takers, I opted to part them out.
The selling price of the parts ... sum of the parts if you will ... was more than what many complete (whole, working units) units brought in some cases.
That is easy to have happen when you can sell a case for 30 or 40 dollars to someone who wants one ... a single board ...
a single crystal ... a set of knobs ... a set of tubes ... controls ... all separately for a fair price.
Have you priced an SB 400 escutcheon or dial mechanism lately? HI HI
