Other less used methods is Bus Express-sometimes comparatively
inexpensive and handled better than conventional carriers, moving
companies-can tag along with a load. This method can take a while but
if combined with a larger load can be much less. Motor Freight-check
with Old Dominion, Yellow Freight, etc. Can be much less but will take
a little more time and requires you pack it well.

In each case above, including Fedex or UPS, the coverage you buy to
insure undamaged delivery is not insurance in the common sense. These
companies are required by law to provide minimum coverage and what you
get is coverage that can be extremely difficult to recover from the
carrier. They may (and usually do with heavy containers) claim improper
packing and deny any payments. So insure by a third party and document
the packing with pictures then be prepared to provide proof of loss
amount. Proof of loss can include documents retrieved from the web but
the best thing is an antique appraiser who is provided with the
information from the web and pictures of the object.
